Here be HPfic recommendations.
- Draco / Ron -
The story that pulled me into the HPslash fandom to begin with is A Quaint Notion, by Helen. It's an amazing piece of work.
Also fun to read is the edgy, tense If You Want by Bec, in which Ron is rather confused.
Glimpses by BlackRose is another of my eternal favorites. Uncomplicated, sweet, and unexpectedly tender.
Not quite so sweet is Deep Water by Rowan. Lovely prose and a quiet sort of angst, as well as water imagery and cigarettes.
- Harry / Draco -
My current H/D favorite is Irresistible Poison by Rhysenn. Draco accidentally takes a love potion and suffers for it. Can Harry do the Right Thing? And what would that be, anyway?
Want more angst-Draco? Bec's La Petite Mort is a short narrative, bittersweet and poignant.
In a similar vein, there's L.C., with the fantastic imagery of Theme and Variation.
I recently fell in love with Underwater Light by Maya, in which Draco is a rat bastard and Harry is a reluctant hero, and everything is amazingly three-dimensional.
Jen Faulkner's "Encampments" trilogy is beautiful and far-reaching: the pairing as it was meant to be written.
Romie's Love Ridden series is an eternal favorite. Takes a serious look at not just H/D, but digs into many other details and preconceptions in Rowling's universe.
Sadie Dragonfire's masterful Protective Bonds is sweet and playful and serious all at once. The boys become connected through a magical accident, and have to learn to live with it.
- Sirius / Remus -
apogee by llamajoy is a touching, delicately playful Moony/Padfoot fic.
You want sweet happy puppyfic, you know you do. And Canis M. is the mistress of puppyfic. My favorite is A Particular Affinity, in which Sirius is incredibly endearing. I also liked First Quarter, in which Remus' monthly cycle makes itself felt. And then there's the delicately executed A Fearsome Business, a convincing vision of their reunion after PoA... oh heck, read it all. (And look at the art while you're there, too.)
For ridiculously hormonal Sirius/Severus/Remus, Hyphen presents Much Ado About Stalking.
Definitely read Naraku's Waltz for the Moon. A beautiful rendering of what led up to Snape's visit to the Whomping Willow, and what followed after.
- Harry / Snape -
(don't ask.)
The only Harry/Snape that I will ever, ever approve of is Telanu's excellent "Tea" series. And read her other stuff while you're there. The "Coffee" series is lighthearted and delicious, and "Noise" is heartwrenching.
...I take it back. Nym has an absolutely incredible vision in her series, beginning with Consequences, followed by Sins of Omission and No Greater Sin. Harry/Snape, fascinating premise, wonderful characterization on both ends.
I, er, take it back again. When torch gets involved, there's no fighting it. Pale Green, a brief heady shot of a fic. Go read it. I am incoherent.
- ? / ?! -
And then there's the miscellaneous fic. HPslashers go in for strange pairings sometimes. (As if Harry/Snape weren't enough...)
I love The Skull Beneath the Skin, by Ellen. It digs into the dark places inside Snape and Lupin, without destroying the pride or strength that defines them.
The most beautiful Lucius/James fic I've found is Rhysenn's A Whiter Shade of Pale, a touching tale of Potter/Malfoy through the generations. I love the Lucius characterization.
Mathilda May has written some fascinating stories, including the only Weasley twincest fic I will ever recommend reading. Also check out her "Far Too Good" arc, a collection of Lupin, Snape, and Black.
Avocado is the author of Not Quite Good Enough to Be Going On With, an intensely delightful (and oddly credible) Sirius/Severus fic.
Finally, check out the Harry Potter Slash RPG. Pairings galore. Snappy conversation, humor, violence, angst, and (of course) sex. All beautifully written. What more could anybody ask for?
